I'm using Tomcat 4.0.2 with Apache and mod_webapp. It is my understanding that I do not need to add a context for running jsp pages from /webapp/somedir/. However, when I try to open such pages, I get a 404 error.

Thanks for any help.

I'm answering my own question. While I didn't get anywhere regarding not needing a new context, I'm now able to run jsp after adding the WebAppDeploy directive to httpd.conf and then adding a context to server.xml.
Thank you me.
