Access others computers in a LAN

I have searched everywhere for an article or something like that to tell me how can I access computers near me(in a LAN) and view their shared folders and files from Java and nothing. Please help me if you can. I am desperated :)

If the other hosts on the network are mounted (as Windows shares, right?) as network drives (with a drive letter), then they can be accessed through Java.



However, file paths starting with "\" won't work with Java as they do with Windows.

In short you cant do it easily and I am guessing that the computers are running Windows.
The LAN protocol is SMB protocol and if you can write a SMB client like smbclient program from SAMBA suite you can have that type of functionality. But this is not so trivial.

Are there samba client available in the Net ? You have to check it out yourself.
