I'm just wondering if I can use not-tansactional MySQL DB in transactional EJB environment?
On the other hand, can I take an agvantage of DB's native transactions functionality when I'm using container-managed transactions?

Your app server should tell you which databases it supports. It's usually not a matter of a specific feature which a database supports, but whether the app server authors had time to make their software work with particular databases.

For example, most app servers work with Oracle, but they don't all work with MS SQL Server. That's because Oracle was higher on the list of databases to support.

My guess is that, since MySQL is not very heavily used (or advertised as such) in big, production environments, it is pretty far down the list of databases to support.
