Idea 2.5.1 (evaluation) and Mac OS X 10.1.3.

I've noticed that the editor behaves rather slowly when (as an example) inserting new rows in a file that is larger then 2000 lines. There is now sharp limit, it justs gets slower and slower the larger the file is.

This is not the situation when editing the same file in NetBeans or jEdit so it shouldn't be a basic Mac or java problem but more something in Idea's implementaion.

Any ideas?

If the file you are talking about contains hundreds of final static fields, this is a known problem that is currently being investigated. The slowness is caused by synchronization with the Structure view.

If this is the case, there is a workaround I could suggest you: switch off the "Show Fields" button of the Structure view toolbar.
