Could anyone answer me this question?

If I am head of IT for a large organization and decide that purchasing a JMS implementation product e.g. SwiftMQ or MQSeries is ideal for the company, what exactly do I get from the provider company and what work (in short)must my programming team then do to get the messaging system up and running?

hope you do understand "messaging system" as "software-to-software communication facility" (or more exactly "message-oriented middleware"), as opposed to "groupware/email/workgroup" system....just checking :)

conceptually, JMS is 'yet-another-means-to-make-software-applications-talk-over-a-network".

richard monson-haefel and david chappell wrote an excellent book on JMS. it is only 204 pages, and it includes a quick review of 7 different JMS providers. Java Message Service O'Reilly

You'll get the JMS server and you have to create your JMS clients, sending/receiving messages through the JMS server which guarantees you the message delivery.
