Hi All, I have a jvavbean which I call from a jsp. MY java file compiles fine using javac. But when I call it from the jsp I get a class not found error. Checking through things, the jsp file gets compiled into a .java file, but not a .class file. SO this is where the problem lies. Ther error message in my browser is : rg.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSPNote: sun.tools.javac.Main has been deprecated. An error occurred at line: 21 in the jsp file: /windshear/windshearcalcbean.jsp Generated servlet error: /usr/local/java/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1/work/localhost/chrismat/windshear/windshearcalcbean$jsp.java:70: Class shear.windshearcalc not found.    More>>

Hi All,

I have a jvavbean which I call from a jsp. MY java file compiles fine using javac.
But when I call it from the jsp I get a class not found error.
Checking through things, the jsp file gets compiled into a .java
file, but not a .class file. SO this is where the problem lies.

Ther error message in my browser is :
rg.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSPNote: sun.tools.javac.Main has been deprecated.

An error occurred at line: 21 in the jsp file: /windshear/windshearcalcbean.jsp

Generated servlet error:
/usr/local/java/jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1/work/localhost/chrismat/windshear/windshearcalcbean$jsp.java:70: Class shear.windshearcalc not found.
shear.windshearcalc data = null;
^
What I don't understand is whether the problem is in the bean or the jsp file. The .java file that gets created from the .jsp file
doesn't compile using javac - it gives me lots of 'cannot resolve symbol" errors.

So is the problem cuased by as missing import statements (which is doens't seem to be) ??

Any hint of suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

thanks in advance,
Chris

I love answering my own questions.....

It seems that I am missing the javax package
and hence cannot compile my bean......

My question is where do I get the javax package from...
I though it was included in the jdk...

I am using j2sdk1.4 and tomcat as my servlet engine.

thanks in advance,
Chris
