I installed Redhat7.2. It was installed successfully, but only text mode can be used. I tried to use Xconfigurator to configure the monitor (set the frequency), still not working. The video card I'm using is ATI Radeon (on the selection list) and the monitor is Envision (not on the selection list). Please help. Thank you.

Do all the following as root:



(1) Open /etc/inittab. The initdefault should be 5. If not switch it to 5 and restart your system.



(2) If it is 5, go to the bottom of the file. Should be a line that reads:



#x:5:respawn:/etc/X11/prefdm -nodaemon



If not, add it and restart.



(3) If neither of the above worked, try to manually start X by typing "startx".

also try putting the latest version of XFree86 on it, that solved my problem.

If your monitor in not listed, select
"Custom" from the list and fill in
the details manually.u need to have
the monitor's manual close by.
