How can one get to know the system's properties, e.g. installed drives, in Java?

Try

   System.getProperties().list(System.out);

to get a list of all system properties

drives: File.listRoots() may help a littlebit.

Mike,

Since all system has different ways to describe that piece of information, you need to use JNI.
