MIDP vs. Personal Java:

Personal Java is a lot better than MIDP for PDA's and PDA phones since it is powerful, having a floating point library and RMI support. If you are going with cell phones, then it is better to go with MIDP due to the lower memory requirements.

Note that support for personal java is being phased out and will be replaced by the Personal Profile (J2ME), so you will need to port the code over when Personal Profile implementations become available.
