it would help to have more specifications of the reliability of the messaging. is there an acceptable loss rate ?
guaranteed delivery is very difficult, complex, and expensive compared to "best effort".
using a "best effort" approach, one generally will have a message queue on some kind of channel (a pipe). then there is a queue manager handling service requests to read and write the queue. you then might want to have an ACK/NACK component.
you also have to determine if you want a "publish-subscribe" protocol or a message-oriented protocol.
this should give you enough to start with for the first three to four months.
