The JNDI tutorial provide a sample to perform a simple authentication to LDAP using JNDI. In the sample, it was just a class and all the authentication was done within the main method.

I want to create a class that I can call pass in the user and password to authenticate. I tried the above codes within the class and it failed to authenticate.

Do I need to a need to extend a class to perform the authentication? If so what class should I extend?

I found my error, I need to perform new InitialDirContext(env) after filling out the username and password.
