I'm considering using Avalon on some medium sized projects but I am concerned that there might be a large overhead to learning and implementing the framework?

Does anyone have experience with Avalon that could shed light on my concerns?

Is it a framework that really pays off?

Are there good references beyond Apache's documentation?
