IDEA hangs when the total heap size is 95M and used heap size reaches 93M or so. It doesnot actually hang, but it take a while to run the garbage collection and during this time I am unable to perform any operations.



I do understand that I need to tweak some memory parameters. It would be good if there is any guidance from the Intellij team as to what settings would make it work good

More info, still questions.


If you have the memory you can change the following in idea.bat to use more than 96M (160M below):


SET JVM_ARGS=-ms16m -mx160m


This seemed to help a bit in Windows 2000, but eventually I still have the problem as well. The problem seems to be much less apparent in Linux.
