On a Windows 2000 Professional SP2 machine using JRE 1.3.1 02 with 2GB of physical ram and 3GB of swap, I am trying to set the memory on the JVM above 1 gigabyte using:
java -Xms512m -Xmx2048m ...
and I receive this error message:
"Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap."
I cannot figure out why this should be happening. My understanding is that I can provide the JVM with up to 4GBs. Is this a Windows problem?
