Hello , We have an application in which the javascript functionality accesses the applet, which in turn makes SOAP calls to the SOAP services installed on Tomcat Web Server. Hello ,

We have an application in which the javascript functionality accesses the applet, which in turn makes SOAP calls to the SOAP services installed on Tomcat Web Server.
On the Server, the results obtained in XML is converted into HTML by executing
different Stylesheets. These HTML results are returned to the applet which is then displayed using javascript.

The problem that i have is that when this software in run on Netscape 4.76, it takes awfully long time for the results of the service to be rendered on the browser. However the same task is extremely fast on IE with very little time delay.
During the processing, the CPU utilisation and memory usage really peaks up in the case of Netscape.

Is there any way in which we could speed up the performance ?
Any code modifications that might essentially improve response time?

Thanks in advance,

bharani.

P.S: The applet uses URLConnection class of java.net.* for communication with the server.

your scenario is not the only one that performs poorly in netscape. netscape is really slow in other areas (such as displaying pages with lots of tables...). overall, netscape is a horrible browser and you should avoid it if possible. there is really very little you can do to speed up what you are currently doing.
