When I try to compile an .idl file with
idl2java, I get :

idl2java: fatal error: the Java virtual machine encountered an error (java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: _remoteObject); the compiler cannot continue

I get the same error from
within JBuilder or from the command line.

Any help is appreciated, Thanks

I'm not sure if you still
have this problem but here is what I've found.

1) I had exactly the same problem with JBuilder 6 Enterprise.

2) What I found on Sun's web site is you don't use either
idl2java or idltojava, you use idlj (here is the link).

If you have jdk1.3 it's under C:jdk1.3in

From the command prompt, change to the directory
where you have your idl and run

idlj your_file.idl

I think if you are using versions from JSDK 1.2, you can't use other than Java IDL tools like idltojava. Try to use lower version of java which does't include corba packages.
Pleas let me know.. have fun
