How does a Java Applet call Fortran Code?

I would like to run a Fortran program from inside Java.
I have an Applet and I want to send information (File) to a Fortran routine and then capture the information
that return..(Another File). I want to know How can I call the compiler of Fortran or What is the best way to do this?
I'm working with Linux, my Fortran compiler is g77.
I hope you can help me. Please

I've only seen C/C++ integrated in, but assuming you could with FORTRAN directly, untrusted applets can't run native code downloaded over the web.
