Place them unser your application root under /web directory.

For e.g :
My application root as in the default.servlet_engine is :
$approot$/web

So, for an approot it could be say :
c:vajideproject_resourcesibm websphere test environmenthostsdefault_hostdefault_appweb.

It depends on where you have installed Vaj as your home directory and you can find default_app in a sub-directory under it.
