hi all,

I am using ant and am a great fan of it.

I would love to have a property with some default values and based on some command line paramter i would love to change the value of the property. But when i do that it is saying "Overriding ignored".

Why are properties immutable or is there any other way out.

regards

ashok

Properties are immutable to allow for more sophisticated control of build parameters, so that they can be set from command-line, properties files, or via embedded definitions - and the first one set sticks, with the -D taking precedence.

The only time I've ever seen overriding ignored was when I tried to override a property via a -D command line argument, but overrode it to the same value as the default. I have had no issues modifying properties to other values with -Ds.

Hope this helps,
Erik
