Hello! I'm googling around the net for quite a while trying to find a JTextField which supports text-entry based on patterns. I didn't find anything, even at jguru, so I thought I'll ask here... The idea is to have a textfield which requires the user to enter data according to a specified pattern (which would ideally be shown to the user). The way, patterns are specified doesn't matter, regexp would be nice but isn't needed. It should support simple patterns like "three numbers, then one point, then 6 numbers and then a slash followed by two characters" etc.. Is there something like that around? Do   More>>

Hello!

I'm googling around the net for quite a while trying to find a JTextField which
supports text-entry based on patterns.

I didn't find anything, even at jguru, so I thought I'll ask here...

according to a specified pattern (which would ideally be shown to the user).

It should support simple patterns like
"three numbers, then one point, then 6 numbers and then a slash followed by two characters"
etc..

Is there something like that around?

Does java provide it and I didn't see it? (in that case, flame me :-)

Are there any ideas how to implement?

Important is, that it should be a single textfield,
not a set of textfields and labels...

Help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
