how to exclude xmlns in xml elements?

I'm trying to create an xml element in my output file but the element after xslt transform contains an empty xmlns attribute. How can I exlude that?

I'm using xalan from the java-xml-pack fall release.

For the DocumentBuilderFactory object, you have to setNamespaceAware(false) (Which is the default setting) to avoid the namespace attribute in the xml document.
