We have a client server program to be implemented in ahuge environment where the client can ask for copy of a file at the server.
If simultaneous 50 or more requests are to handled at the server side then what will be the resource utilization at the server side including memory ,CPU etc.
Please suggest something.

Lots of users accessing files simultaneously?

Sounds like a pegged disk I/O subsystem, enough memory for buffers for each file (say, 10k per open file), and a small amount of CPU usage, just to handle the request. If you've got a SCSI disk system, you'll have less CPU than if you have IDE.

There's no better data than empirical data. Why don't you try this out and see what happens?
