Entity Beans are stored in the database. They are most of the time a single record in the database. If application server crashes, it does not go to the database and delete a record in it. Therefore, when the server is up and running again, you can recover your entity beans easily from the database. This is different from the session which in most cases are not persisted to permanent storage and when system crashes they are lost.
