to use java mail program we should have

a mail server.But what is this mail
server?If i write a java mail
program and wish to test it,by
sending from my mail id
like "mymail@mailhost.com" to my
friends mail id
like "myfriend@mailhost.com",what
should i need?Can i use java web
server or Tomkat server?

Usually ISP gives you a name of mail server (MX) which you can use for testing.


You also can install your own Mx (SMTP server) locally. If you need a pure Java implementation of mail server, you may look at James - http://jakarta.apache.org/james/index.html
