I am writing an application that uses JDBC. The database connections are very scarce. I would like to know if there is any way to tell if a user has closed their browser. I could perform this check periodically and return the resources to a pool if no longer required. The current behaviour regarding session timeout seems to be the same regardless of whether or not the browser remains open. i.e. the session does not terminate early if the browser closes.
