Hello Currently we are planning to deploy our intranet java application with Sun JRE 1.3 01. There is a huge variety of pc's, but they all have the recommended specs for jre1.3. However, when we surf to the intranet webpage and launch our application applet, it takes very long to start up. It takes about 1-2 minutes before you can even see the java console icon appear in the systray. Normally there is a jar download involved of about 200k. This has never been an issue with the MS VM (altought there are many others :))Momentarily this jar cannot be cached because it is in development, but all our other jar (approx. 1M) are cached with the cache_archive option. Are there ways to accelerate the launch of the jre ?

Have you tried the HotSpot VM ? It might help.
