What solutions exist that allow one to add search functionality to a web site that uses Struts and template tags? Doesn't mapping requests to pages in Struts cause problems with the indexing or searching? What about templates and the fact that a rendered page is composed of more that one file existing on a web server hard disk?

I don't believe template tags, or server-side includes,
would impact most search engine solutions. These
index and search the Web site from the viewpoint of the user,
and don't access the file system directly. How or where
the physical pages is stored is immaterial.

A very good choice in this regard is
Jakarta Lucene.
Excellent product; highly recommended.
