When I launch the JB5 installer (or just insert the auto-play CDRom), I get the following dialog:

"javaw.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x5007268e" referenced memory at "0x0004a8b8". The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program.

Click on cancel to debug the program"

my operating system is win 2000 professional

Hmm. I didn't get any such error.

I suspect you have an incompatible version of java in your classpath/path.
Download the latest version of java from javasoft (1.3.1).

Then launch the installer manually from a command window if it still gives you trouble. Prune relevant environment variables (PATH, CLASSPATH, etc.) until you can get it to work.

Good luck.
