Tomcat4.0.1 requires a GNU compatible tar binary for untarring the binary distribution. I am looking for a GNU compatible tar binary for linux.Where can I find it.Please mail me the link where I can find the GNU compatible tar binary distribution for linux(i386 or i686).

Hi,

I think that the default tar installed on any Linux distribution is a GNU compatible tar. Just try to execute this command:

tar --help


Anyway, the latest GNU tar can be downloaded from the software repository of the gnu site at: http://www.gnu.org/software/tar/.
