If I want an application with multiple screens, do I make one frame and many panels or one frame and many dialogs?

I am making an app that uses AWT and I want 7-8 screens. Do I use panels or dialogs to show the screens?

You can really do anything you want. Here are some suggestions:

If you can use Swing components, use tabbed panes, it's much easier to see and organize.

Do you want all of the screens visible? If so, use frames. Dialogs suck to make, in my experience at least. If you don't want to have them have the ability to be seen at once, then just use Panels and control the display of each with buttons (i.e. "Page Back", "Page Forward").

Try both out and see how things go, you'll learn more that way.
