I need to reply to my Architect about using a wrapper for log4j. He claims it is ridiculous to do that.

it is lot of overhead?
Can I get couple of good points to support my case.
Here is his claim.
"I still believe we should be using log4j directly. Please convert to log4j or explain the benefits of continuing to use your wrapper. Caching the objects in getLogger helps but your wrapper still requires a lookup on each log method. That is a lot of unneeded overhead. Log4j uses the same approach the logger does in the upcoming JDK 1.4. "
