I have an application that runs at system startup. The application is useful without an internet connection, but has additional features when one is available. However, it appears as though java is unable to connect to the internet if the connection is made after the application is launched, as would be the case if the user is utilizing a dialup connection. This appears to be related to problems with InetAddress caching information about the local host address... Can anyone provide any insight as to how I can ensure that the application will connect to the internet even if that connection is made after the application is lauched?
