I have a Stateless Session Bean which needs to connect to different backend servers and send a request in a propertiary message format. I use a helper class which connects to the Backend server for every request & passes the message & receives the response message. I heard that opening Socket in a bean is not advisable. Since in this case, the socket is opened in a helper class i hope there is no issue. But Socket is created for every request it is a bit of overhead attached. I also thought of a socket pooling but the backend server times out every 4 mins of inactivity so i got to check the pool for that too. Is there any better way of doing it? kindly suggest.
