A sample code to do this would clear up some confusion we are experiencing here at our company. Some developers feel that inserting/selecting a BLOB datatype is different from say, inserting an integer into the database. Is this correct ? If so, what is different and how is it accomplished ? Thanks.

It is diff. See oracle web site they have some good information on how to accomblish it there.
