1)An open edition is when you change the status of a project/package from versioned to open. You must open a project/package to be able to change the code and then save the changes to the repository. If you do not open the project/package all the work you perform will be on your machine in a temporary file only.
2) You must version a project/package or class so that they will be listed as workable code. Versioning marks the code so that you are able to select which view of the program you want to work with.
3)The icons that looks like a manila folder is one way of veiwing the projects that were created. Whether you have access to them is another issue.
4) I the class is in your workspace and you version it then you can export it.
5) I don't know about #5.
