I am writing a Java app to replace a MS Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is simply a 2 dimensional display of data, but the Excel Freeze Pane feature is used to freeze the top 5 rows (Rows 1 thru 5) when scrolling vertically and freeze the leftmost 6 columns (Columns A thru E) when scrolling horizontally. Users need this data to remain displayed on the screen when scrolling vertically or horizontally. I have searched Sun's Java documentation, particularly JTable and JScrollPane, and several Java books for a solution to provide this functionally, but I have had no success.

Any assistance that you can provide is appreciated.
