How can I execute a CLI command from a java class ?

Need to know how can we run any CLI command from a java class. In case unix from the java class need to execute any command.

CLI meaning Microsoft's Common Language Infrastructure? CLI is not available on Linux and, assuming it becomes available (for example, from the Gnome Mono project), it's not defined how Java's runtime would interoperate with an entirely different and unrelated runtime. Maybe in a year or three?
