i would like to make a program which can count the number of copys came out from the printer......is java suppers this type of applications ? if yes then help me how can i make this type of application........

Hi. There is the Java Communications API from Sun for such purposes. Download it from http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/index.html

You can send and receive data from a parallel port.
