We have an applet which displays images. User can zoom in and zoom out images. We want the zooming task to be handled in the applet without a new hit to image server. Problem is that most of the browsers supports older versions of JRE and thus we can not use g2d and also can not set rendering hints for maintaining image quality in zoomed-in image. Currently we are using
Image.getScaledImage(width, height, hints)
method to do the zooming task. However, with this method, the quality of the zoomed-in image suffers. Is there any other trick/technique that we can use in the applet and achieve much better quality of zoomed-in image.
