we have a functionality in VB it make use of TAPI API to dial number using modem to server remotely and receives response from the server.

can i implement same functionality in java. Can make use of TAPI dll files using dll call. i have tried with JTAPI API but, i feel JTAPI can using only for call center kind of req.

please suggest me if any packages available for these kind of functionality.

How does supporting call center activity make JTAPI unusable for your needs?

If you'd like to control the modem directly without all the middleware, you may want the JavaComm API, which allows you to directly talk to serial devices. A version for Linux is published through the Blackdown site.
