Stateless sessions beans are as fast and scalable on a single JVM than plain Java classes. Is this correct?

The advantage of stateless session beans against plain Java classes is that the beans are pooled and don't have to be created everytime you use them.
With some programming effort it's possible to pool plain Java classes and cache the already created classes so they don't have to be created each time.
