I am trying to open an html file (in netscape) which
calls a class which extends JApplet.
For some reasen I get an error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/JApplet
What does this mean? That netscape doesn't supprt
swing classes or is it something else?
When I call this file with appletviewer, everyting works
fine. So I guess it has something to do with the way
netscape handles it.
Can anyone help me out or give me some suggestions?

This means that the browser you are using (most likely Netscape 4.X) does
not come with the swing library(Most browsers have an old copy of the JVM supporting only AWT components).
What you could do is use a JRE(availabe from the sun website) plug-in for your browser or send the swing
classes as a jar file to be downloaded to the client. The plug-in
is propably the best way to go if you have to use swing, since this
library is large (2+ megs I think, could be larger). Another
alternative is to use non-swing components- extend your class from
Applet instead of JApplet
