Probably the best thing for you to do is to contact
Iona Support in this matter. I am unsure whether any installation of any application should need to survive an OS upgrade, particularly if it is native (as opposed to interpreted). Have you tried re-installing Orbix? Try
this website and explore from there to see if you can find an answer to your problem.
