Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");

Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test", "", "");

I have created a database named "test" in mySql on Linux which further contains tables.I have used the above 2 lines of code in my init() method of servlet for database connection, for which I get 'class not found' and 'Invalid driver name' error.

Can anyone please suggest some proper lines of coding in Java and VB for getting a conn to database and retreiving data from it...both running on Linux.

Thanks.

If you are using tomcat then put the jar file of the driver into the $TOMCATHOME/lib directory.
