use the createImage(width, height) method to generate a false image and set a bool value to true immediately after repaint().
code a method such that whenever the
boolean value is true, the createdImage is drawn before an image or controls are rendered .This will give the user an illusion that the rendering is pretty fast as against when some transition takes place.

This is called DoubleBuffering

It is called double buffering and is covered in the AWT FAQ.
