can't find class

Hi Everybody,
I am new to Java.I written a small program.I am able to compile successfully without any error.But when I run the program using 'java' interpreter,I'm getting the following error:
"can't find class [filename]"
Can anybody guide me to solve this problem.

Easy: your class is not in CLASSPATH.
At command line type:
SET CLASSPATH=.;%CLASSPATH%
to add working dir to VM class search path.
