pasting image on a frame

i have just encountered this problem and have not been able to find a solution.
i have created a frame in awt and want a gif to appear on an action event.
Since this frame is working independently of any applet i cannot find a way to draw my image on the frame.

Search the AWT and Swing FAQs at jguru.com for "image" -- you should find plenty of info to do this.
