Is there any way to substitute another JVM for the one that is bundled with Netscape (and, of course, to have Netscape use the substituted version)?

Thanks.

Depends on which version of "Netscape" that you're asking about. The "modern" versions support the Java Plug-In and so you can drop in different versions of Java independently from the version of the browser.
