WHY DO I GET THIS EXCEPTION WHEN I AM SURE MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD ARE CORRECT

Judging from the dump (smart move including your password....), it looks like you are checking your mail on host X against a username for host Y. Also, more often then not the username doesn't include the @xxx.xxx part of the email address.
