Is it possible to send mail from Java program without using JavaMail (that is without using package javax.mail)? Is it possible to solve this task only with classes in java.net package (and/or java.io package) and how?

I admit that my ask may sound little strange, but I must not to download JavaMail and therefore I must solve this topic only with means of "standard" classes of JDK 1.1.8.

Thank you very much for your help.

If you check the FAQ you'll see how to do this already. All you have to do is open a socket connect and send the appropriate commands.

Download the RFC's on sending mail and implement your own mail package. The RFC's on SMTP and POP3 can be found on www.faqs.org
